Introduction to the Stream:

As a world leader in the dynamic arena of General Insurance and Risk Management, Aon is ideally positioned to help clients effectively manage their risks. Our remit is wide–ranging. We help insurance companies to optimise the financing of their capital at risk by devising and implementing solutions that integrate exposure, coverage terms, volatility and risk appetite. Operational Risk experts at Aon develop ‘what if?’ scenarios that identify and assess possible events that could lead to extreme loss.

The role:
The breadth of our work offers unbeatable opportunities for graduates to join Aon as Actuarial Analysts. The Stream will give you broad experience in all areas of general insurance actuarial consulting. Unlike many other employers of actuaries within general insurance, we won’t pigeon-hole you as a capital model, reserving or pricing actuary.
Our team consists of 50 consultants, including 20 qualified actuaries; we also have 100 colleagues in the USA. You will work with senior people to deliver a wide range of actuarial and analytical solutions to Aon’s global client base, quickly gaining the knowledge and expertise to manage your own portfolio of projects.
Training and development:
Since we are a multi-disciplinary team, you will follow a balanced training programme that covers all areas of risk management. There will also be plenty of scope to specialise when you are ready.
We are committed to giving you the support you need to develop your skills and take your career to the highest levels. For starters, we will fully support your study towards qualification as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries – professional study materials, tailored tutorials and study days will all help you pass your exams. You will also be allocated a mentor who’s recently been in your position and a line manager to give advice and guidance whenever you need it.
Our technical training includes:
- Actuarial Analysis – you will learn to perform supervised actuarial analysis including loss analysis, curve fitting, capital modelling, claims reserving, pricing as well as assisting on more bespoke services offered by Aon.
- Actuarial Research and Development – you will create innovative solutions from current trends in actuarial theory and practical applications, conduct research, monitor market developments and help to develop actuarial tools for internal and external use.
- Analytical Support – you will provide a resource to teams preparing for client meetings, presentations, market studies, tenders and reports. There will also be the opportunity to attend client meetings and support senior colleagues in the delivery of our services.
Requirements:
To apply for our Actuarial Consulting – General Insurance Stream, you will need to be educated to degree level with a 2:1 in a numerate discipline, and have strong analytical skills with the drive to deliver excellent work to our clients.
